I am a mixed media artist working primarily with found paper—materials that are collected or discovered over time. For nine plus years, I exhibited with Wally Workman gallery in Austin; I now work independently from my studio, focusing on compositions that reflect presence, precision, and the surprising beauty of ordinary, overlooked things.
Among my influences are Dadaism, Minimalism, and more recently, the sculptural language of Louise Nevelson. While my earlier pieces often featured intricate circular forms composed of many small elements, the more recent work explores larger, more graphic structures, and are intended to be viewed in series. I am seeing the newer work as a sort of deconstructed, freer, macro version of the almost microscopic elements in the circular pieces. My art practice remains rooted in attention, transformation, and the dialogue between material and form.
