Lauren Jaben is a mixed media artist based in Austin, Texas. Her education in textile design and photography led to over 4 decades of art practice. For nearly ten years, Lauren exhibited with Wally Workman Gallery, and now her work can be seen in her East Austin studio and at Davis Gallery in Austin. Lauren transforms ubiquitous materials—packaging and other paper products—into compositions that ultimately explore the overlooked beauty of the ordinary, as well as the tension between chance and precision. As her practice progresses, Lauren leans into the unforeseen possibilities that bring materials together and away from overt manipulation. She lets found objects guide her with minimal intervention. In addition to her individual work, Lauren is co-owner of AgavePrint, a creative studio dedicated to art reproduction, digital printing, and custom picture framing. In this role, Lauren engages with a broad variety of practicing artists and finds deep satisfaction in connecting with and supporting the creative work of others.
